Join the Team

Interested in gymnastics? Are you an MIT affiliate (student/faculty/staff/alumni)*? Consider joining the team! Whether you’ve been doing gymnastics since you were two or you just watched an insane video on Youtube and were inspired, we’d love to hear from you. No prior experience is necessary, but if you are new to the sport, you should attend our weekly classes ($5/class) a few times first so that you can learn to safely use the equipment. Team membership allows you to participate in all weekly practice sessions and compete in gymnastics meets as part of the MIT Gymnastics Team.

*If you are not an MIT affiliate but still want to do gymnastics at MIT, please contact Abbie Green at Cambridge Community Gymnastics

We are a flexible team and have a few levels of membership to cater to various levels of experience/commitment:

  • Attend home meets

  • Travel to all meets except nationals
  • Allowed to participate in nationals

As part of the team, you’ll practice with athletes whose levels of experience range from zero to decades of gymnastics training. It is a friendly, helpful environment: perfect for newcomers and veterans alike to train, learn new skills and put together routines for competition. As a club team, we welcome all members of the MIT community including graduate students, professors, and alumni.

If you’re interested in joining the team, or have further questions about team membership, please fill out the form below and e-mail, or stop by the gymnasium in Dupont during practice and talk to us!

*Your nationals travel costs will be dependent on how many “Gymnastics Points” you’ve accumulated throughout the year. Gymnastics Points is the team’s way of keeping track of each member’s team involvement. Points are earned for attending practices, meets, team social events, etc. Simply being on the Competitive Team doesn’t guarantee that the entirety of your nationals travel costs will be paid for.
