MIT_gym.jpgWelcome to the website of the MIT Gymnastics Club! We are a club gymnastics team open to any and all interested MIT Affiliates (students, faculty, staff/employees, and alumni) who would like to do gymnastics at MIT, no experience necessary. For more information on eligibility for participation in club sports, please see here. If you are not an MIT affiliate but still want to do adult gymnastics in the Boston area:

  • If you’re looking for an open gym/class: GymStreet in Wilmington offers open gyms with coaches available for tips and advice.
  • If you’re interested in competing for an adult team: contact Jurassic Gymnastics (a local adult gymnastics club that is currently practicing at a few different local gyms) at president@jurassicgymnastics.org.

Access to campus will be different than ever before and could change depending on campus policy.  Because MIT has made the very difficult decision to de-densify campus for the time being [MIT’s visitor policystaff return to campus policies and the July 7th announcement to students], access to DAPER facilities will only include students, faculty, and staff who are invited back on campus and approved to be on campus via the new COVID Pass App.  Unfortunately this means that students, faculty, and staff learning/working remotely, as well as alumni and spouses who would otherwise typically be eligible for club sport activities, will temporarily not have access to campus facilities (limited exceptions could be possible to provide proper coaching/supervision for your group).  Everyone (including alumni!) can certainly remain involved in virtual events within our group though, and we are doing weekly virtual workouts and frequent virtual socials!

Normal Practice Schedule (Just FYI during COVID)

Practices are held six days a week, year-round. We have a fully functional gymnastics facility with all six men’s apparatuses and all four women’s apparatuses. Our facility also contains numerous training apparatuses, including a tumbl-trak and tumble strip into a resi pit, a trampoline and a strap bar. We generally host two meets a season, and travel to compete in 4-6 meets per season. Additionally, each year the team travels to compete at NAIGC nationals. We have two superb coaches who are each in the gym three days a week (one primarily coaches the women’s events and the other primarily coaches the men’s events), and many experienced gymnasts who can help you take your gymnastics to the next level.

Our practice schedule is:

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat
5:00-7:30pm 5:00-7:30pm 5:00-7:30pm 5:00-7:30pm 5:00-7:30pm 5:00-7:30pm

We hold open classes weekly on Wednesdays during the summer for $5/class, and will hold similar weekly beginner classes during the fall, after which we are focused on preparing for the competitive season. The first day of practice for anyone newcomers wishing to join the team is on September 10th.

However, it’s never too late to join the gymnastics team. If you would like to contact us, please send us a message at gymnastics-officers@mit.edu
